19-year-old-singer Josephine Sincere is another in the storied tradition of talented Philadelphia-bred female vocalists. Josephine burst onto the independent music scene in 2003 as a 16-year-old curiosity; no one really knew what to expect from her, other than knowing that she was working with long-time Philly producer and label-head Tab Edwards on a project that he called, “One of the most interesting of any in my career.”

NATURALLY TALENTED
After a hand-full of months in the recording studio, Josephine had completed her 17-track debut CD entitled “Feels So Good,” and it wasn’t long before the general public discovered what Tab had known since he heard the singer deliver her first few notes: Josephine Sincere is a 16-year-old that really KNOWS how to sing! And it comes naturally to her. Producer Tab Edwards, who has worked with many seasoned veteran singers over the years, says that of all the singers he has worked with in the past, none really “understood” how to sing better than Josephine does. Of all the things she can do vocally, he is most impressed by her innate ability to find and deliver vocal harmonies on-the-spot! Every backing vocal and harmony on Josephine’s 3-CDs was arranged and performed by Josephine alone (with the exception of “Mamma” from the CD Feels So Good).

Josephine has never taken vocal lessons nor has she ever sang or recorded with a group. Her impressive vocal talents are natural and have been developed since she was a young kid by singing to songs she heard on the radio and on television. Her skills were later honed by singing in her Lincoln High School (Philadelphia) choir, and in church. In fact, it was one of her performances at a church function that led to her association with Kixx Records.

HOW SHE WAS “DISCOVERED”
While performing a solo at a church retreat, Josephine’s performance was caught by the sister of Kixx Records head Tab Edwards. Tab’s sister called him that evening and said, “I just heard this girl sing who I think you should listen to! She sounds GREAT!!” The only reason he decided to hear Josephine sing was because the request came from his older sister. Otherwise, he would have blown it off (because he hears that kind of thing every week and it’s never true). So, Tab contacted Josephine and arranged for her to come to the recording studio to do a quick audition. And quick it was. She entered the booth, sang a-cappella for about 1 minute, and Tab was so inspired that he began scheduling session time to record songs with her. Thus began Josephine’s relationship with Kixx Records.

OUTSTANDING REVIEWS!
Josephine’s debut CD “Feels So Good,” which was released when she was a mere 16-year-old high-schooler, has received wonderful praise from both the critics and music fans worldwide. “Feels So Good” was nominated for a 2004 R&B Album of the Year Award (Just Plain Folks honoring independent music) from a pool of 10,000 CDs! Vibe Magazine’s Editor, Rob Kenner, called her debut single “Jane” “… a KILLER!” The Philadelphia Daily News called Josephine a “Wonderful talent!”
The New CD, "Wildflower," has received a 5-Star ratinf in the Street Buzz! Magazine. Something that ver few albums have been able to accomplish. They called it "The best album we've heard in years!" The album debuted at #1 on The Dope Dozen charts, and the song "You" is #2 on the singles chart!

Josephine's music so inspired the team over at Groovin' Records and Philly legend, DJ Jazzy Jeff, that they have included the song, "I Like It" on Jeff's new The Soul Mix Tape project!

GUEST PERFORMANCES
Josephine’s follow-up CD “Sweet Harmony” is receiving even greater feedback. One United Kingdom writer wrote: “Your new album reaches heights it's impossible for me to describe. This is pure & precious beauty!”
For this CD, Tab enlisted some of Philly’s premier Jazz musicians for accompaniment, including: Rich Waller (drums); Rick Tate, Jr. (sax); Will Brok (Rhodes); TNT (Piano); and Lee Patterson (bass). These musicians have performed with such artists as Gerald Veasley and Floetry, to name a few. Also appearing on this CD is former Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes crooner, Cubby St. Charles (on “Do You Luv Me?”), and emcee DRK (Mr. Jenkins). Spoken-word artist, Rachel Watson, joins Josephine on "Bleed."

WHAT’S NEXT
Having completed a successful run of the major stage production of "Ragtime," Josephine is being asked to perform in other productions. Who knew she could act, too! In addition, with the completion of her sophomore CD, Wildflower, she will begin promoting the CD while preparing for the music video shoot for the first single, "The Next One (Gitit2getha)."
